Trianel wins Excellence Award for Sustainable Report 2025!
Cologne once again shines with a remarkable success: Trianel received the Excellence Award at the ESG Transparency Award 2025 for its first sustainability report according to the ESRS VSME standard. This was announced on December 3, 2025 and relates to the report for the 2024 financial year. Trianel has thus laid a solid foundation by converting early to the EU-recommended VSME standard, having used the DNK system until 2023. This decision was necessary because regulatory uncertainties called the previous standard into question, as Stadt und Werk reports.
Sven Becker, the spokesman for the management, sees the award as confirmation of the company's clear strategic direction. He emphasizes that the focus on sustainability is not just a duty, but is seen as an integral part of the company's philosophy. Nadja Thomas, the sustainability manager, emphasizes that the new standard offers a lean structure that allows the company to report reliably and clearly quantify sustainability performance. This also addresses the information needs of stakeholders, as transparency is more in demand than ever.
New standards and their meaning
Recognition from the ESG Transparency Awards is particularly relevant at a time when many companies in the EU, including an estimated 50,000, are affected by new sustainability reporting rules. From 2024, this reporting will become mandatory for many companies, which is supported by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This policy aims to expand reporting and close gaps in the current system. The EU taxonomy plays a crucial role by classifying sustainable economic activities and creating transparency for investors, as Sage highlights.
European regulations stipulate that companies belonging to the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) must publish their first reports as early as 2025. Larger companies that meet two of three specific criteria will also be required to report from 2026. With its newest board of directors, Trianel has made it clear that it is already taking on responsibility and facing the challenges of the future.
Economic commitment to sustainability
The ESG Transparency Awards are not only a sign of Trianel's success, but also show that companies in Germany and beyond are seriously interested in sustainable corporate practices. EUPD Research, which organizes the awards, examines the sustainability strategies of companies from 19 industries in Europe. As part of this competition, the award aims to evaluate the strategic clarity of companies and make their sustainability achievements visible.
This is particularly important at a time when consumers and investors are placing increasing emphasis on environmental and social responsibility. Companies like Trianel not only have a duty, but also maneuver themselves as reliable partners with a keen eye for the future in order to attract qualified specialists. So there is a dynamic business in the room that will continue to grow in importance.
