Drunk attack in Marxheim: chair breaks window!
On an eventful night in Marxheim, an incident occurred that shows how quickly an argument can escalate when drunk. A 25-year-old attacked a vehicle with a chair and smashed the rear window. This was reported by colleagues from Donau-Ries Current.
At the same time, a 31-year-old tried to escape backwards in his car, but clumsily bumped into the garden fence of the adjacent property. This unfortunate attempt to evade resulted in damage to both his car and the fence. In order to aggravate the situation, the 25-year-old insisted on threatening the owner of the house. In this chaos, breath alcohol tests were carried out on both opponents, which each showed close to two per thousand.
Rights and offers of help in the event of bodily harm
The Rain police station has now initiated investigations into simple and dangerous bodily harm, threats and damage to property. The importance of the topic of bodily harm should not be underestimated, because it includes not only physical but also psychological damage. It is often personal conflicts in close proximity that lead to such violent escalations, for example in the case of alcohol abuse. According to information from Police advice center Violence often occurs in social relationships, and such incidents are often not reported because they are perceived as too minor or private.
However, the clearance rate for assault crimes is higher than is often assumed because in many cases the perpetrator and victim know each other. This can also make treatment options easier for those affected. Unfortunately, statistics show that violent crimes, particularly those involving children and young people, often only become considered criminal over time. Figures from the last few years show that 137,058 cases of dangerous and serious bodily harm were registered in Germany in 2017. While this number has decreased by 2021, each case should be taken more seriously.
A call for vigilance
The events in Marxheim nip at the surface of a far-reaching problem that affects us all. Whether in social relationships or on boozy nights, the risk of escalations, especially under the influence of alcohol, is high. As the investigation results show, a clear message is needed against such acts of violence - both from a preventative perspective and in the sense of victim protection.
We ask all readers to keep their eyes open and, in an emergency, not to hesitate to seek help or call the police. Support and advice for victims of bodily harm is important in order to heal the wounds and show that violence in any form has no place in our coexistence.
