New roundabout in Eichstätt: Increased road safety!

From June 23rd, things will be busy north of Eichstätt on state road 2225 and EI49: a new roundabout is being built! This is not only intended to increase traffic safety, but also to reduce the high traffic flow in this area. Construction work is expected to last until the fall. The decision to do this was made by both the Free State of Bavaria and the Eichstätt district in order to respond to the sharp increase in accident rates in recent years. The investment sum of around one million euros shows that serious measures are being taken to ensure the safe coexistence of cars, cyclists and pedestrians. This is reported by the Danube Courier.

The new traffic routing will be supplemented by illuminated crossing points for cyclists and pedestrians to enable safe crossing of the streets. In addition, a gap in the cycle path network will be closed in the area of ventilation, which should significantly improve cycle traffic. But that's not all: the construction work will be carried out in several phases in order to keep traffic restrictions as low as possible. Initially, work will be carried out parallel to the roadway so that traffic can continue to flow in both directions at reduced speeds.

Extension of construction sites and consideration

There is a small change at the Lüften bus stop: it will be relocated to the Preith commercial area at short notice during construction work. Citizens and road users are asked to prepare for possible disruptions and to exercise increased caution when driving through the construction site. Such measures are necessary to increase road safety, as the latest figures show.

According to that BMV Road safety is a central issue in the Federal Republic. The standard work “Traffic in Numbers” has been published for over 50 years and contains current data and time series on mobility and traffic. The statistics are essential to identify the necessary steps to improve transport infrastructure and traffic education.

Accident statistics: background and analysis

They also have a supportive effect here Statistics from the Federal Statistical Office, which provide comprehensive and up-to-date information on the road safety situation. These statistics help to understand the causes of accidents and shed light on the structures behind the accident. They are the basis for legislative measures, which is why solid accident statistics are of great importance.

The planning and implementation of the new roundabout in Eichstätt clearly requires a good hand in order to ease the high traffic load and sustainably increase safety for all road users. We will be excited to see how this project will change traffic flow and whether the hoped-for results can actually be achieved.
