Sparrows in Munich Airport: Unusual visit causes a stir!
Last weekend, uninvited guests caused a stir at Munich Airport: a group of sparrows had made themselves comfortable in Terminal 1. These easily lost birds had been spotted between Terminals 1 and 2, where they were looking for tasty leftover food. An airport spokesman explained that it is not uncommon for birds to be in the terminals, although this is rare. It is believed that the feathered friends made it past security, possibly by accessing the intermediate area from outside, before settling into the terminal. Mercury reported that the sparrows had difficulty navigating the slippery floor in the waiting area on Level D.
Different species of birds feel at home at the airport because biodiversity is actively promoted here. And even though these sparrows aren't exactly the ideal travel partners, there's no real concern about their safety. According to a spokesman, such situations arise in which the birds find their way into the terminal.
Emergencies and short flights
But the airport doesn't just have to contend with feathered surprises. That same weekend, an emergency on board an Air France plane caused a stir. Fortunately, the routine has not been broken so far: the shortest flight that takes place from here only lasts 45 minutes and covers a distance of 230 kilometers. The fast connections are particularly popular with travelers traveling for business or simply returning during the day.
The birds, which bring a little fresh air into the airport, remain an unusual sight. It will be exciting to see whether we can report on such little adventures at the airport more often in the future.
