Volunteer housing advisors from all over Bavaria meet in Neumarkt!
On October 16, 2025, Neumarkt was transformed into a center for volunteer work. Around 40 dedicated housing consultants from various districts in Bavaria met to exchange experiences and develop common ideas for their work. The meeting was organized by the Neumarkt district housing advisory service in collaboration with the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Wohnungsadaptation e.V.
Host Patricia Kleibert from REGINA GmbH warmly welcomed those present and introduced an informative program. Roswitha Meier from the BRK's Department for Caring Relatives gave a lecture on the topic of “Dementia in the counseling context”. This was particularly relevant as many volunteers play key roles in supporting people with dementia.
Diverse topics in focus
During the day, the participants also had the opportunity to get to know the projects of the Neumarkt district housing advisory service better. These included, among other things, the pop-up store and the sample cases for everyday aids. Another important point of the discussion was the care advice, which was presented by Werner Kirsch from AOK Neumarkt. Participants discussed the challenges that often arise in practice and how to respond effectively to them.
The aim of this exchange meeting was clear: it was about finding solutions together and strengthening voluntary commitment. The contact persons for housing advice centers offer free advice on topics such as independent living, adaptations to the apartment, financing options and technical assistance solutions. Anyone interested can contact the housing advice center in the Neumarkt district on 09181/ 50 929-18 or by email at wohnberatung@reginagmbh.de.
Outlook for future meetings
Next year there will be another exchange meeting for the volunteers in Bamberg. This continuous exchange is crucial in order to maintain and further develop the voluntary structures. The Hamburg organization tries to align its work with the latest developments and the needs of the community in order to adapt the information and training.
At a time when topics related to digitalization and information security are becoming increasingly important, residential advisors may also be interested in looking at best practices from other areas, such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, which helps companies optimize their security measures. These flexible framework conditions not only promote security, but also risk management in a wide variety of organizations. Knowledge of such approaches can also benefit volunteers by enabling them to orient themselves and position themselves better.
With an exciting day full of new insights and a clear view of the future, the participants were left with many ideas that they can incorporate into their further commitment. The network and exchange within the volunteers not only strengthen their individual activities, but also make a significant contribution to improving the living space for many people.
