Orchard Day in Freising: Experience the diversity of nature!

On Sunday, September 14th, things will be colorful again around the Schafhof and the European Art Forum, because Orchard Day is just around the corner. The Freising Landscape Conservation Association, which has been committed to preserving the district's natural and cultural landscapes for years, is opening the gates to one of the most species-rich ecosystems in the region. This day not only offers fun, but also exciting insights into the world of orchards. South Germans reports that the meadows are home to over 5,000 animal and plant species and provide an indispensable habitat for endangered species.

This event is a real festival for young and old. In addition to a farmers' market that offers local products from the orchard, visitors can take part in specialist lectures. Among other things, it explains how climate change affects orchard farming and what care is needed to keep the fruit trees healthy. The colorful program is complemented by musical sounds from the band Heartbreakers and film screenings about the “apple priest” Korbinian Aigner.

Experience and learn diversity

A special highlight are the fruit tree pruning and grafting courses, which are offered to adults. Here, interested parties can deepen their knowledge and learn practical skills. Even the little ones don't miss out. A special children's program promotes an early understanding of nature and the importance of orchards. This unique landscape shows in its diversity how important ecological, economic and social aspects are interwoven.

The importance of orchards should not be underestimated. These habitats are not only hotspots of biodiversity in Central Europe, this is how environmental education explains, they also help preserve ancient fruit varieties and produce delicious harvests. In addition, many young people are involved in caring for these meadows and are learning how important it is to use natural resources responsibly.

For the region and the environment

Collaboration between farmers, sustainable businesses and the landscape conservation association is crucial. These synergies not only help to preserve nature, but also contribute to the creation of healthy economic cycles. The promotion and preservation of these cultural landscapes is of great importance beyond the Freising region. The landscape conservation association has already taken numerous measures to integrate learning projects and raise community awareness of sustainability.

The Orchard Day on September 14th not only offers an exciting opportunity to find out more about the wonderful world of orchards, but also to actively participate in their preservation. Visit the Schafhof and enjoy a day full of knowledge, enjoyment and community!
