Two suspects arrested after ATM explosion in Freising!
In a high-profile case, Dutch authorities have arrested two men suspected of being involved in blowing up an ATM in Kirchdorf an der Amper. This is reported by the Evening newspaper Munich.
The arrests took place on July 15, 2025 in the cities of Utrecht and Woerden. Arrest warrants were executed against a 22-year-old Dutchman and a 34-year-old man with Dutch and Moroccan citizenship. Her arrest is the result of intensive investigations that have been ongoing since the crime took place in January 2025.
The explosion and its consequences
The ATM at Sparkasse Freising-Moosburg was blown up on the night of January 14, 2025 at around 3:20 a.m., with the perpetrators fleeing in a dark Audi and escaping unrecognized. A five-figure sum of money was stolen, while damage amounting to over 100,000 euros was caused. During the crime scene recording, traces were secured that ultimately led to the identification of the suspects. The Bavaria Police reports that the charges against the suspects include aggravated gang theft and causing an explosive explosion.
Extensive evidence was seized during the searches on Tuesday. This included not only the clothing and masks used, but also cash, which underlines the men's involvement in these criminal activities.
A possible network of further acts
The investigation is now also focused on whether the two people arrested may be responsible for other similar acts. In 2024, there were a total of 22 ATM explosions in Bavaria, raising concerns about a possible increase in crime in this area. The first explosion was recorded in Bavaria in 2025.
The Munich I public prosecutor's office has already applied for the suspects to be extradited to Germany. Cooperation between the Dutch judicial and police authorities and the Bavarian investigators is crucial in order to bring further details to light and combat crime.
It remains to be seen whether these arrests will shed light on other unsolved cases. In any case, the investigation is in full swing and the situation remains exciting.
