The community of Alling experienced an exciting weekend when they celebrated three important celebrations at once. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the partnership with the Styrian community of Lannach, the 150th anniversary of the Alling volunteer fire department and the “Alling burns” party by the rural youth, the festivities took place in Peter Metz's hall on Parsbergstrasse. The Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria, Hubert Aiwanger, took over the patronage and, in his speech, praised the tireless volunteer work of the fire brigade, which represents an essential part of public services. Loud Mercury This was an expression of the respect and appreciation that the Bavarian state government shows the work of the fire department.
The event kicked off with a field fair behind the Allingen Rewe market, followed by a 3.5 kilometer long parade through the village. Music groups and various flag delegations accompanied the procession, while attentive residents along the route provided water and refreshments for the festival visitors. How Small newspaper reported, Alling was transformed into a center of party spirit this weekend.
Honoring the firefighters and history of the volunteer fire department
In his speech, Mayor Joachimsthaler highlighted the fire department's 150-year existence as an “extraordinary event” and warmly thanked the firefighters for their tireless efforts. A special highlight of the celebration was the presentation of a commemorative plaque by the district fire inspection to Commander Benedikt Friedinger, who expressed his joy about the event and the enthusiasm of the guests after the celebration.
The importance of the volunteer fire brigade is clear not only in Alling, but also in Lannach, where its 120th anniversary was recently celebrated. This fire department was founded on November 22, 1903 by 36 men. Deputy Commander Kevin Naterer led through the program, also mentioning the partnership with the Rosegg fire department in Carinthia, which has now existed for 30 years. The celebration in the Stone Hall emphasized not only tradition, but also the need for constant training and improvement of equipment, as in Firefighters Association can be read.
The future of volunteer fire departments
In Germany, more than 1.25 million people are active in the fire department on a voluntary basis, and they make crucial contributions not only to fire and disaster control, but also to youth work. Over 80,000 youth leaders are involved in working with children and young people to promote a sense of social responsibility. By the way, the newly founded German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering is creating a framework that is intended to support fire service work and their families.
The events in Alling and the celebrations in Lannach not only represent a long tradition, but also a lively togetherness and a strong feeling of community in the respective regions. As Mayor Joachimsthaler noted, time for social interactions and togetherness is of the utmost importance - even in challenging times.
