Loibl couple wins climate protection award with energy-efficient house renovation
In Gröbenzell, Anja and Markus Loibl caused a stir with their commitment to climate protection. For their comprehensive energy-saving renovation of their house, which they have lived in since 2002, they received second place in the Gröbenzell Climate Protection Prize. This reports Mercury. The Loibls invested 65,000 euros in measures that ecologically upgrade both the house and the garden.
The modernizations included replacing an old oil heating system with an efficient heat pump and installing photovoltaic thermal collectors. The couple also insulated the roof, installed dormers and replaced the windows. To maximize insulation, the facade was clad in larch wood and fiberboard was used.
Innovative garden planning
But it's not just the building that benefits from these measures. Her garden was also designed to be close to nature. This includes enlarging the pond, setting up birdhouses and creating insect-friendly perennial beds. Their efforts were rewarded as their garden was given the title of “Bird Friendly Garden”. The Loibls also planned to use an old tiled stove with a heat exchanger to heat water, which further underlines their commitment to sustainable solutions Financial tip explained.
The already mentioned award for the second best contribution to climate protection is part of the Gröbenzell Climate Protection Prize, which has been awarded since 2022 and honors projects that actively address climate protection. This year, first place went to the “Gröbenzell Climate Manual”, a useful knowledge database for citizens. The Dietl family came third, building an ecological single-family home.
Funding opportunities
Anyone who also plans to implement energy-saving renovation measures in their home has the opportunity to receive support from the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). This offers various funding programs that promote both energy-saving renovations and individual energy advice. As on the KfW website KfW As you can find out, up to 50% of the costs for individual energy advice can be funded. Construction supervision by energy efficiency experts is also subsidized if you take advantage of appropriate funding.
Energy-related renovation measures, such as insulating the facade and roof or replacing old heating systems, not only contribute to energy savings, but also benefit your wallet by reducing heating costs. Uninsulated external walls can lose up to a third of the heat. Therefore, replacing old windows and heating systems is also a financially wise step.
With this in mind, the Loibls should be congratulated on their award! With their example, they show that everyone can contribute to a more environmentally friendly future by investing in their own four walls.
