The defendant was unable to brake in time and collided with the car, which was extremely dangerous for everyone involved.

The driver of the front car and two other passengers suffered whiplash injuries. According to the prosecutor's assessment, the young driver thought it was justifiable to drive at this speed, which was considered negligent behavior. Despite the charges, the 21-year-old lodged an objection, which led to a hearing at the district court.

The negotiation and its consequences

During the trial, the defendant's lawyer admitted that his client was actually traveling at around 200 km/h. He tried to avoid the collision. Interestingly, the injured party did not demand any compensation or loss of earnings and did not want to place any additional burden on the defendant. This could also depend on the fact that the defendant apologized to the injured party and emphasized that it was never his intention to harm anyone.

The potential driving ban played a central role in the defense, as it could jeopardize the defendant's professional training to become a driving instructor. The public prosecutor pleaded for a driving ban, while the judge took the young man's professional future into account.

The Verdict: A Mild Ending?

The result of this negotiation was ultimately less harsh than expected: no driving ban was imposed. Instead, the 21-year-old has to pay a fine of 500 euros and completes a reading assignment at the Munich University of Applied Sciences on the subject of speeding. This could perhaps be interpreted as a form of accommodation, given the circumstances and the defendant's personal remorse.
