Traffic chaos in Germering: B2 renovation starts – This is what you need to know!
From Monday, June 23rd to Sunday, July 13th, 2025, there will be significant restrictions on Bundesstraße 2 between the Germering-Nord junction (A 99) and the exit to Puchheim-Ort. The reason for this? An urgently needed renovation of the road surface, which is unavoidable due to road damage and potholes, such as Mercury reported.
The B2 will be completely closed during the entire construction period, which will mean that road users from Fürstenfeldbruck will have to use a diversion via Puchheim and Gröbenzell to the Munich-Lochhausen junction (A 99). Drivers who want to exit the A 99 via Germering-Nord should also consider taking the detour via the Munich-Lochhausen junction and then the demand-oriented U 21 diversion route, as Germering.de supplemented.
Further closures in the region
However, this construction site is not the only one affecting the region: the district road FFB 17 through Emmering will remain completely closed until December 2025 due to water pipe and roadway renovations. In addition, the state road 2069/Roggensteiner Straße in Olching will have to contend with a one-way system until July 15, 2025, while the district road FFB 2 in Oberschweinbach will not be passable until the end of November 2025.
A particularly important note for commuters is the current situation around FFB 13/Birkenstrasse and FFB 3/Römerstrasse in Moorenweis: The work there began in the first week of the Whitsun holidays and, depending on the street, is expected to continue until November or the end of June. The local road FFB 2 between Oberweikertshofen and Waltenhofen will also be closed until September 5, 2025 due to the expansion of the cycle path network. Of course, diversion routes are signposted for all closed roads.
The importance of infrastructure
The renovation of such transport routes is crucial, not only for personal mobility, but also for the economic development of the region. The 2022 transport investment report from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport shows that a reliable transport infrastructure is essential for prosperity and social participation. A well-functioning transport network is one of the cornerstones of our society and is of great importance internationally, as in bmv.de is to be read.
All road users now need to prepare for the upcoming changes and follow the signposted detours. Phases of bad weather could also affect the construction time, so it is advisable to regularly monitor the latest information. The district office and the city of Germering always keep citizens up to date about the status of the construction sites and their impact on traffic.
