Serious accident in Fürth: scooter driver seriously injured! Witnesses wanted!

There was a serious traffic accident in Fürth on July 8, 2025, which made the hearts of residents beat faster. A 59-year-old man, who was driving his gray VW Caddy, wanted to turn left at the intersection of Cadolzburger Straße and Breslauer Straße. He overlooked a 36-year-old driver of a three-wheeled scooter, which led to a serious collision.

The accident happened at around 4:15 p.m. and was already causing a lot of excitement when the police arrived. The scooter driver fell during the impact and suffered serious head injuries and several broken bones. Immediate first aid on scene stabilized him before he was transported to a hospital. The accident resulted in the total failure of both vehicles, which had to be towed away. The total damage is estimated at over 15,000 euros, reported Northern Bavaria.

A call for help

The Fürth traffic police have taken over the investigation and are urgently looking for witnesses to the incident. Any relevant information can be provided by calling 0911 973997-115. Fortunately, the driver of the VW Caddy remained uninjured, but the incident once again shows how quickly serious accidents can occur on our roads.

The accident statistics speak for themselves: In 2023, there were around 2.5 million road traffic accidents in Germany, with most of them aiming to cause property damage. This shows that the risk for road users, including cyclists and scooter riders, is increasing. A total of 23,744 people had accidents on e-bikes in 2023, and the number of accidents with serious consequences remains at a similar level to previous decades. Figures that evoke a thoughtful mood when reading are the 2,839 traffic deaths reported in 2023, such as Statista reported.

Why is it that the number of personal injuries remains so consistently high? Common causes include insufficient distance, inadequate speed and driving under the influence of alcohol. Although road safety is a widely discussed topic, the problem remains - and yet "Vision Zero", without road fatalities by 2050, remains one of the most ambitious goals of the EU transport ministers.

But back to Fürth: The incident gives us all something to think about. It turns out that the simplest traffic rules are often responsible for fatal episodes. So let's remain vigilant and remember how important the assistance of witnesses is in such situations.

For anyone who needs more information or feels at risk on the road, it is advisable to contact local authorities or take safety courses. Let's work together to make our roads safer.
