Experience the Alps: FME special train takes you to Garmisch and Mittenwald!
When the first rays of sunlight flash over the Alps in summer, nobody can avoid the attraction of a train journey into this majestic region. So not the Franconian Museum Eisenbahn e.V. Nuremberg (FME), which on July 5, 2025 brings a very special special train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. The anticipation for this adventure will be noticeable in large and small railroaders, because the trip promises both breathtaking views and historical rail experiences.
The FME has been committed to not only preserving historical vehicles, but also actively using them. This commitment, which has existed since it was founded in 1985, is now known far beyond the borders of Nuremberg. Thanks to admission as a railway traffic company (EVU), the nostalgic trips in southern Germany and beyond can be carried out. On July 5th it says: "Get in, please!"
The trip through the Alps
The special train ride starts at 6:27 a.m. in Fürth Hbf and leads via Nuremberg Hbf, Schwabach, Roth, Pleinfeld, Treuchtlingen, Donauwörth and Augsburg Hbf to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where the arrival is planned for around 12:08 p.m. The return to Nuremberg takes place via all exit stops, so that nobody is left behind.
Passengers can look forward to a total of five hours of stay in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where they can explore the Zugspitze, the Panoramaberg Wank and the historic town centers. Then we continue to Mittenwald, where another four hours are available for activities such as the Kranzberg cable car or the gondola for Karwendel. Here the travelers can experience the beauty of nature up close.
