Eberns Kirchweih: Colorful festival from September 19th to 22nd, 2025!

In Ebern it will soon be said again: “Kerwa, you are ours!” From September 19th to 22nd, 2025, the city will become a colorful festival mile when the church fair is celebrated. Traditionally, this festival is also called “Kerwa” and there are no fixed rules for the celebrations, which allows some freedom for creativity. Historically, the church fair in Ebern used to take place on the “Sunday after Kiliani” in the second week of July or at the beginning of November. This year, the fair will once again be celebrated in the middle of September, and a few changes to the program will provide a breath of fresh air. Here NP Coburg has done exactly the right research!

The festival site on the city wall becomes the main stage of these four festive days. Not only the locals are invited, but also everyone who wants to experience what is happening in the heart of the Haßberge. The Fuchs company from Bamberg cooks for festival visitors with rides, while the food trucks entice visitors with a variety of specialties. This is an excellent opportunity for a culinary foray through regional and international delicacies, as reported on Haßberge Tourismus.

The program of the church fair

The events begin on Friday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. with a senior meeting in the marquee. The day will also be enriched with an ecumenical service and the popular “Coffee with a Cop” campaign, which offers a relaxed get-together with local police officers. From 4 p.m., the Haßberglers will provide musical entertainment, while coffee and cake will be served by the CSU Ebern.

Saturday, September 20th is dedicated to the flea market, which starts at 2 p.m. without registration. Visitors can also look forward to the presentation of the car sharing provider meiaudo e.V. A highlight of the evening will be the live music by Sammy West and his band, which will ensure a good atmosphere in the festival tent from 8 p.m. This is where the drinks from Stöhrs BierArt from Kirchlauter come into play, providing the perfect thirst quencher.

On Sunday, September 21st, the church fair will be held from 11:00 a.m. in the old town car park near the train station, where the Ebern brass orchestra will provide musical accompaniment from 3:00 p.m. The Ebern fire department will take care of the catering and provide all hungry guests with regional specialties.

The last day, Monday, September 22nd, starts at 3:00 p.m. with a demonstration by the Schorn sports studio. At 5:00 p.m. a traditional slaughter bowl from the Hümmer butcher's shop will be served, while the Blechvogels bring the festival to a musical end. Showmen and food trucks are on site every day from 2 p.m. to ensure joy and enjoyment.

Cultural background and tradition

The Kirchweih is not just a festival, but an important part of the regional culture that has been celebrated in Germany since the Middle Ages. Its roots lie in the consecration of churches, and each region has its own names and traditions for this celebration. In the area, the Kirchweih is also known as a fair or Kerwe. In Ebern, the celebrations particularly foster a sense of community and connection to the homeland, as can be read on Wikipedia.

Let's use this opportunity to celebrate together and enjoy being together. Whether young or old, Eberner Kirchweih will have something for everyone and will certainly be very popular. Pack up your good mood and come by – we look forward to the colorful hustle and bustle in the streets of Ebern!
