A tree for life: Haßberge gives away fruit trees to newborns!

A small tree for every new life - this simple but beautiful message is spreading in the Haßberge district. The district has launched an initiative that surprises new parents with a very special gift: a fruit tree that symbolizes the growth and future of the newborn child. The “Birth Tree” campaign has been received with great joy and has already inspired many young families.

Since this campaign started on January 1, 2020, a total of 1,456 fruit trees have been presented to parents who gave birth to their children at the Haßberg Clinics in Haßfurt. In October alone, 99 new tree owners were supported. The parents receive a voucher for the tree at the birth station along with a congratulatory letter from District Administrator Wilhelm Schneider. This highlights the importance of the tree as a symbol of their children's life journey, which can now grow together with a tree that is cared for by the district. “The tree represents growth and the future,” explains Schneider.

A selection for the little ones

Parents can choose from different types of fruit trees, all of which are known for their quality and resilience. You can choose from the “Jakob Fischer” apple, the “Delicious von Charneu” pear, the “Sunburst” cherry and the excellent “Konstantinople Apple Quince”, which was named “Plant of the Year”. Above all, the diversity of this selection makes the campaign so unique, because each family can choose a tree that suits their personal preferences.

The trees are ordered by the horticulture and land conservation department. When picking up the tree, the new tree owners receive professional advice that includes both pruning and tree care. Expert advisors like Johannes Bayer are on hand to provide advice and support to ensure that the new tree grows in the best possible way.

A popular gift for young families

The response to the “Birth Tree” campaign has been consistently positive. Parents, such as the Heim family from Sulzheim, have already taken advantage of the opportunity and their daughter Henrietta was presented with a tree at birth. So far, a total of 447 fruit trees from this initiative have been planted as part of the birth campaigns.

At a time when many are looking for ways to celebrate the life of a newborn and connect it with nature, the Haßberge district offers not only a gift, but also an opportunity to actively participate in the growth and prosperity of a tree. This symbolic act shows that every tree that is planted is also a flower of hope and the future for future generations.
