Haßberge is giving away over 1,400 fruit trees: a gift for life!
In a pleasing trend, the Haßberge district is continuing its popular “birth tree campaign”. This initiative welcomes newborns with a special welcome gift – a fruit tree. Since the start of this campaign, over 1,456 fruit trees have been given away to new parents in the Haßberg Clinics in Haßfurt. District Administrator Wilhelm Schneider is enthusiastic about the success and the positive response from the young families.
The fruit trees given are not only a nice gift, but also an invitation to families to actively invest in nature. The parents receive the voucher for their tree directly at the birth ward, together with a congratulatory letter from the district administrator. This makes receiving the gift a very special moment in the lives of the families. In October 2025, for example, 99 new trees were handed over to proud parents, another sign of the ongoing interest in this campaign.
The selection of fruit trees
The new parents can choose from a selection of three different types of fruit trees. Be available:
- Apfel „Jakob Fischer“
- Birne „Köstliche von Charneu“
- Kirsche „Sunburst“
- „Konstantinopler Apfelquitte“, die sogar zur „Pflanze des Jahres“ gekührt wurde.
The focus is not just on enjoying the fresh fruit; The opportunity to enrich your own surroundings with a fruit tree also attracts many new families. Parents particularly value the personal service and expert advice during collection. Every tree receives a professional pruning, and the district advisory staff are happy to answer questions about planting and care.
Semi-annual collection campaign
The fruit trees are dropped off every six months, which is a welcome opportunity for families to find out more about their tree and receive support directly when it is picked up. The next collection campaign is already scheduled for September 26th and 27th, 2025. On September 26th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on September 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., parents can pick up their trees at the district building yard in Haßfurt, Uchenhofer Straße 17, and receive valuable tips on care.
The birth tree campaign has developed into a real highlight for young families in the region. However, parents who welcome their children to the Haßberg Clinics between February 15th and August 14th, 2024 should hurry up: the deadline for sending in the vouchers is August 31st, 2024.
A beautiful project that not only benefits the environment, but also creates intergenerational memories and strengthens a sense of community. The campaign shows that a small tree can bring a lot of joy - both to little people and their parents!
