Anna Walter: Double bronze and European Championship nomination for table tennis talent!

The sports world in Ingolstadt looks back on an exciting weekend. On June 16, 2025, Anna Walter from MTV Ingolstadt returned home from the German Championships in Erfurt with double precious metal. The talented young player was able to celebrate the bronze medal in both singles and doubles, together with her partner Eva Xintian Gao from TSV Oberstdorf. During intensive competitions in the girls 15 age group, Anna showed that she has a good knack for the sport of table tennis.

In the individual competition, the young athlete effortlessly dominated the preliminary round by winning all three matches without losing a set. This meant she moved into the semi-finals with a bye, where she then met her doubles partner Gao. In an exciting duel, Anna had to admit defeat with 8:11, 8:11 and 7:11. Gao then competed in the final, but also narrowly lost 2:3 to Rhea Zhu Chen from Baden-Württemberg, who won the championship.

Successful doubles and mixed competition

The combination of Walter and Gao also showed their skills in doubles. They started as the top seeded duo and won the first rounds against the opposing pairings with clear results: 3-0 against Lara König and Anna Kühn from Thuringia and 3-1 against Zixi Mila Niu and Valeriia Korzun from Hesse. In the semi-finals they met Amelie Guzi Jia and Kira Aeberhard (Hesse), who prevailed 3-2 in a thrilling game and ultimately won the championship.

In the mixed competition, Walter competed with Jonas Rinderer from Ruhmannsfelden. Unfortunately, they were not successful in the quarter-finals and were eliminated after a thrilling 2:3 against Lotta Rothfuß and Tien Nghia Phong from Baden-Württemberg. Despite this setback, Anna Walter's performance was remarkable and testament to her potential.

Outlook for the European Championships

Anna Walter's successes do not go unnoticed. Her strong performances have led to her being nominated for the U15 European Youth Championships, which will take place from July 11th to 20th in Ostrava, Czech Republic. This is a fantastic opportunity for the young athlete to prove herself on the international stage.

This season Anna also won the “WTT Youth Contender” tournament in Senec (Slovakia) and secured the silver medal at the “WTT Youth Contender” in Metz (France). Her commitment and dedication to the sport shows that she is on the right path to making a name for herself in the table tennis world.
