Fortress Day will take place in Ingolstadt on Sunday, June 22nd. This event is not only a social highlight, but also an important occasion to honor the achievements of active and former soldiers. At various stations at Kavalier Elbracht, visitors have the opportunity to take part in fundraising runs. The fundraising run begins at 10 a.m. and those interested can set off on the two-kilometer-long circuit every hour on the hour. Important to know: The route can be circled as often as you like without having to keep a time. Each participant also receives a certificate. The donations collected go equally to the Bundeswehr Social Works and the German Bundeswehr Association. If you would like to register, you can do so optionally by email chairman@reservisten-ingolstadt.de do, but registration is not required.
This initiative contributes greatly to the community between civilian and military circles. At the national level, the Bundeswehr and reservists running team, which was founded during the Corona period, has become a symbol of this community. The third fundraising run of this initiative took place from September 10th to 25th, 2022 and was accompanied by high-ranking personalities such as Lieutenant General Markus Laubenthal and State Secretary Siemtje Möller. This event not only collected donations, but also promoted cohesion between different social groups.
Diversity in the fundraising run
As part of the charity run, various disciplines were offered that are suitable for every age group. These included, among others:
- 1 km Kinderlaufen oder -fahren
- Marathondistanzen
- Laufen, Radeln, Walken
Participants had the opportunity to win finisher shirts and commemorative coins signed by the running team's patrons and board of directors. Prominent supporters from the sports world, including Isabel Schneider, Dajana Eitberger and Merle Frohms, contributed significantly to the high level of interest and participation in these sporting events.
Vacation destinations for the soldiers
In addition, the Bundeswehr Social Welfare Office offers attractive accommodation options. A popular destination is the Rügen Camping Park. This holiday resort impresses with its picturesque location on the Baltic Sea and numerous leisure opportunities. The offering ranges from bungalows and mobile homes to RV parks and group accommodation. Nature beckons with rugged chalk cliffs and fine beaches, ideal for a relaxing family holiday. Bookings can only be made for members of the Bundeswehr Social Welfare Office, but the stay is a welcome opportunity to strengthen the community in a relaxed atmosphere.
So anyone who comes to Ingolstadt next weekend not only has the opportunity to experience the military traditions, but can also make a small contribution to a good cause. It is a unique opportunity to get actively involved in solidarity and support of the soldiers and to collect memorable experiences.
