MTV Ingolstadt fights bravely: Third places despite semi-final drama!

The temperatures reached a blistering 33 degrees, but the long-awaited football action quickly made the heat forgotten: MTV Ingolstadt took part in the Erdinger Meister Cup in Moosburg and showed a strong performance. In the end, however, the team suffered a defeat in the semi-finals, which was quite controversial. As Heimatsport reports, Ingolstadt failed at FC Sturm Hauzenberg after the semi-final ended 2-2 in extra time went and Hauzenberg finally won on seven meters.

Despite the disappointment of the semi-final exit, MTV Ingolstadt was able to celebrate third place, which resulted from a fortunate circumstance: TSV 54 Munich did not play in the game for third place, which meant that Ingolstadt finished third. However, department head Ivan Covic also had reason to criticize, as a controversial seven-meter penalty, which meant 1-1 for Hauzenberg, had a decisive influence on the game.

The tournament format of the Erdinger Meister Cup, in which the game was played on a small field in “five-on-five” mode, proved to be an advantage for Ingolstadt.
