Pedaling for the climate: Take part in city cycling in Ingolstadt!
Ingolstadt is setting an example for climate protection and invites all citizens to actively participate in this year's city cycling. This nationwide campaign, which has been taking place in Ingolstadt for over a decade, aims to not only experience the benefits of cycling in everyday life, but also to raise awareness of environmentally friendly mobility. The participation period for 2023 is from July 5th to 25th, and registration is easy via the website stadtradeln.de. Students can also use the special page stadtradeln.de/schulradeln participate and collect your kilometers.
The local cycling representative Theresa Schneider is particularly active and calls on everyone to take part in the campaign. “Everyone can cycle along and not only increase their personal fitness with the kilometers they collect, but also make a contribution to climate protection,” she explains. The aim of the campaign is not only to promote the fun of cycling, but also to support your own health.
A competition with charm
City cycling is more than just a bike tour. It is an international competition that offers cyclists the chance to collect as many kilometers as possible within 21 days. These kilometers are recorded for both professional and private trips. At the end of the campaign there will be awards for the most active communities, teams and individuals. Loud Federal Environment Agency Last year around 300,000 people from almost 900 municipalities took part and cycled a total of 60 million kilometers. This success should also be repeated in Ingolstadt.
The benefits of cycling are as varied as they are convincing: from fresh air and regular exercise to flexibility and avoiding traffic jams. But in order to make the switch from car to bike sustainable, you also need good cycling infrastructure. Attention to this need also raises Klimaschutz.de who emphasize that suitable projects can promote the use of bicycles in the long term.
Funding programs and infrastructure
There are various funding programs to further strengthen cycling and expand the necessary infrastructure. Municipalities can benefit from funding here to advance their cycling projects. The application process is structured and takes place in two steps: First, a project outline is submitted, followed by a request to submit applications for funded projects. Here too, the BMWK relies on digital processing to speed up the procedures.
Cycling is not only healthy, but also an essential part of an environmentally friendly mobility concept. With city cycling and the accompanying infrastructure projects of municipalities throughout Germany, an important step is being taken in the right direction. So, dear Ingolstadt residents: Get on the saddle, rack up the kilometers and show that you have a good hand for the climate!
