Kaufbeuren: Derby victory sparks enthusiasm, Krefeld causes frustration!

An exciting weekend for ESV Kaufbeuren: On Friday the team celebrated a thrilling 4:3 win in the derby against EV Landshut, while on Sunday the Krefeld Pinguine were too strong in the domestic DEB league with 7:1. Such highs and lows are part of it - many a player will have thought: “We have a win, that brings a good mood and motivation!”

Things really got going in the home game against Landshut, which took place in front of 3,100 spectators in the Energie Schwaben Arena. Landshut got off to a better start and quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to the best power play in the league. But the Kaufbeuren residents didn't let themselves be defeated! Philipp Krening and Max Kislinger brought the game back into balance with their goals. Klausi Heigl finally took the lead before the game went into overtime and a penalty shootout, where the spectators' nerves were put to the test. With a cool head, Tyson Mc Lellan and Krening finally converted the decisive penalties and secured the victory for their colors. Coach Todd Warriner was visibly proud of the team's performance and particularly praised the loan players who made important contributions.

Kaufbeuren in Krefeld: A broken performance

On Sunday, ESV Kaufbeuren played against the Krefeld Pinguine with only nine attackers and the omens were not good from the start. In the first third they conceded three goals in just 53 seconds and went into the first break 0-4, which was a real challenge. Rihards Babulis took over from Daniel Fießinger in the second third to bring a breath of fresh air. But Krefeld didn't let anything go wrong in the middle third either and increased the lead to 6-0. Only in the final third was Krening able to score a consolation goal to make it 1:7, but the day was anything but successful for Kaufbeuren.

As you can see, things don't always go up in ice hockey. The fans can only hope that the team learns from these setbacks so that they can show what they are capable of again in the next game.
