Premiere of the Rainbow Café: A safe place for queer families!
On July 12, 2025, the first “Rainbow Café for Families” will open at the Apfelkern family base in Kaufbeuren. The event starts at 1:00 p.m. and will last until 4:30 p.m. It is aimed at queer parents, their children and all interested families from the Allgäu and offers an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and make new acquaintances. The equality offices of the city of Kaufbeuren and the Ostallgäu district, together with the Allgäu Pride e.V. association and the SchwubiS advice center, initiated this event in order to strengthen the visibility of queer families, such as wir-sind-kaufbeuren.de reported.
During a cozy afternoon with cake and interesting conversations, participants are offered childcare on site. For the organizers, this afternoon is an opportunity to promote open and safe togetherness. You can look forward to many new contacts and enriching conversations, says the invitation City of Kaufbeuren.
Queer families are addressed
The premiere of the Rainbow Café comes at an important time, as queer families in Germany are often confronted with discriminatory legal conditions and challenges. This problem will be taken up in the event “Queering Family – Between loving practice and discriminatory law” on June 11, 2025 at Frankfurt University, which deals with queer family models. In fact, this university series also highlights the difficulties that queer families have to experience in Germany frankfurt-university.de.
The challenges that queer families face are coming into focus not only in the Kaufbeuren area, but also nationwide. The Rainbow Café is intended to serve as a meeting place that encourages people to network and strengthen each other.
Registration for the Rainbow Café is recommended by July 8, 2025 to make childcare planning and general organization easier. Anyone interested can register via the email address FSP-Apfelkern@web.de. The event not only promises to put a smile on the faces of the participants, but is also a sign of the acceptance and recognition of diversity in our society. Come by, laugh with us and let's explore new paths together!
