Shock in Kaufbeuren: 81-year-old molested six-year-old – process details!

In the recent past, the city of Kaufbeuren has made headlines that can leave no one unmoved. An 81-year-old man had to appear in the district court after he stood trial for sexually abusing a six-year-old neighbor. The defendant, who was described by his neighbors as a “nice grandpa” and who previously led an inconspicuous life, admits to overstepping the boundaries. The allegations are shocking: There was a French kiss while eating ice cream, and during a sleepover the older man lay naked next to the child and touched him in intimate places. These incidents not only have legal consequences, but also placed a heavy burden on the psyche of the girl, who suffered aggressive attacks after the attacks and was afraid to sleep alone.

The public prosecutor was forced to intervene, and a trial began that cast a dark shadow over the neighborhood. The girl's statements had already been recorded on video and were played in court. The mother of the five-year-old girl spoke of the deep emotional scars the incidents left behind, although her child is now gradually recovering. The judge handed down a suspended sentence of one year and nine months. In addition, the defendant must pay 3,000 euros to a charitable organization and is no longer allowed to approach the girl. The investigation revealed that the man's criminal record was clean and no incriminating content was found on his computers. However, one thing remains uncertain: whether there may have been further incidents. This remains pending at this time and the investigation continues.

Further threatening developments

Another case that caused a stir in Kaufbeuren concerns a 59-year-old educator from the Ostallgäu region, who was also brought to court for sexual abuse of children. The crimes took place between September 2018 and February 2019 and affected three children aged eight, nine and twelve. The teacher had looked after some of the children as part of homework support and ultimately confessed to having committed the crime. He was given a suspended sentence of two years and must pay 1,000 euros to each of the children affected. Parents alerted the police after learning of the incidents, showing the importance of taking information seriously and acting early.

The danger to society from such acts is significant. According to a press release from the Federal Criminal Police Office The number of sexual crimes against children and young people in Germany has increased. In 2023 alone, over 16,000 cases of child sexual abuse were registered, an increase of 5.5% compared to the previous year. These alarming statistics show that children are often hurt by people close to them, often friends or even family members.

The Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser, emphasizes how urgent it is to protect children. "Every day, 54 children in Germany become victims of sexual abuse. This shocking number makes it clear that we must not let up in the fight against such crimes," said Faeser. The Federal Criminal Police Office emphasizes that the Internet in particular is becoming increasingly important as a new means of crime, but that the legislative measures are not yet sufficient.

Given this serious issue, it is essential for society to be vigilant and support children. Protecting our youngest children must be a top priority – both in their own environment and online. It is up to all of us to keep an eye on and advocate for the safety needs of children.
