Dramatic derby: Kelheim remains top of the table despite own goals!
In the exciting local derby of the Lower Bavaria West district league, which took place on August 10, 2025, ATSV Kelheim retained its top position in the table despite a 2-2 draw against TSV Langquaid. After a furious start with four wins in a row, this was the first loss of points for the Kelheimers, who also proved to be strong in the game against Langquaid. The response was great, 350 spectators watched the match in brilliant weather.
The encounter began with intense moments, with Langquaid having the first opportunity - but Christoph Blabl missed the target with a backheel. An own goal from Stefan Schauer put ATSV Kelheim in the lead in the 23rd minute, before Kamil Heim added the second goal for Kelheim in the 23rd minute. A bitter setback came for Kelheim in the final part of the first half: Langquaid equalized in the 44th minute with an own goal from Dominik Schandri.
A wild course
The second half remained exciting, with Langquaid having to play outnumbered in the 70th minute: Benedikt Köppl received a time penalty. Despite this numerical superiority, Kelheim was unable to win the game. Aron Bice took advantage of a mistake in Kelheim's build-up play and put Langquaid in the lead (1:2). But the hope of a win remained for Kelheim - Kamil Heim equalized in the 83rd minute to make it 2-2, causing the Kelheim fans to cheer. In the final phase, both Heim and Schandri had the opportunity to score the winning goal, but failed.
For sporting director Christian Gottschalk, his team's commitment was remarkable: “The fighting spirit was there and the boys didn't give up,” he commented on his players' performance. Other league games also featured exciting encounters. FC Walkertshofen lost 2:4 against TV Aiglsbach and therefore remains without a win. In the derby between TuS Pfarrkirchen and ASCK Simbach there was another interesting outcome, which Pfarrkirchen won 2-0. With this success they ended their dry spell: it was their first win of the season.
