New Rewe market in Steinberg: Citizens discuss controversially!
Things are going well in Steinberg: the Rewe store is moving and the community is tackling things! At a citizens' meeting in the Wilhelmsthal sports hall, around 50 interested citizens came together to find out about this important step. Mayor Susanne Grebner (SPD) took the opportunity to present the municipality's key projects and to actively involve citizens. Tobias Semmler from the engineering firm IVS also answered questions and presented current information regarding the relocation of the Rewe store. The plans for the current location are already in progress; It will be exciting to see what else is in store for us here.
The project shows how dynamically the community is developing and that those responsible are clearly concerned with the future of shopping in Steinberg. A modern Rewe store could not only improve shopping behavior, but also increase the attractiveness of the location. NP Coburg emphasizes that the information event was an important platform for exchange and discussion.
Oktoberfest and Halloween – celebrations in autumn
Autumn not only brings with it structural innovations, but also the happy and spooky customs that we celebrate at this time of year. As we leave Oktoberfest behind, the world is preparing for Halloween. This traditional celebration is eagerly awaited in many countries, especially in the USA and Great Britain. The children go from door to door in scary costumes, decorate their houses with orange and black and ask for sweets. They shout the famous saying “Trick or Treat!” The custom has its roots in a mix of ancient Celtic traditions and Christian holidays, which makes the celebration even more interesting. Wikipedia reports that Halloween has its origins in the Celtic celebration Samain, which marked the transition into the dark season.
The art of carving pumpkins to make the famous jack-o'-lanterns also comes from this tradition and has gained particular popularity in North America. However, recent discussions about the commercialization of Halloween and the increasing safety concerns surrounding candy collecting also make us reflect on the actual spirit of this celebration. As the children look forward to the night of terror, there are also reflective voices that point to the origins and core of this tradition.
The new and the old in view
As the projects surrounding the Rewe market show in retrospect, life in Steinberg is not only characterized by traditions, but also by a clear view of the future. It is precisely these changes that keep a community alive and strengthen the sense of community. With the upcoming move of the Rewe store, a further step is being taken in a future-proof direction.
In the meantime, the evening of October 31st will also be celebrated in our region. With Halloween, fun and socializing are at the forefront, and many will come together on this evening to honor the ghosts of the past while enjoying the sweets of the present. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the spooky magic of the night or just enjoy a good piece of cake, autumn has something to offer for everyone.
In any case, developments in Steinberg remain exciting, and we can look forward to the further steps that the community is planning in the coming months.
