Demolition work in Thurnau: full closure from November 17, 2025!

Something is happening in Thurnau! From November 17, 2025, demolition work will begin on the through-town road, which is intended to improve traffic safety. The plan is to demolish a total of three buildings, including a residential and commercial building, a lumber warehouse and a barn. This will bring about a significant change for residents and road users.

The full closure of State Road 2689 will last until December 19, 2025. During this time, traffic will be extensively rerouted. The diversion route leads from Thurnau via state road 2189 to Kasendorf and further on state road 2190 to Kulmbach. This means that all types of transport reach their destination safely and efficiently. Particularly important: residents continue to have access to their properties. All road users are urged to pay close attention to the signposted diversion and to allow additional time for the route.

Dealing with the construction site

The Bayreuth State Building Authority asks for leniency and increased attention in the construction site area. It is clear that construction work is always a challenge, but the hope for safer traffic flows is the reason for these measures. The residents and business owners in Thurnau are facing a transitional period that requires both patience and a good hand to deal with the situation.

The preparations and planning for this demolition work are already a big topic in the community. Many hope that the improvements in traffic safety will not only increase through traffic, but also the quality of life in Thurnau. If you have any questions about the work or the diversion, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant authorities as support will be happy to offer.
