New Porsche Charging Lounge in Himmelkron: The future of charging is here!
A new chapter in electromobility is opening in Germany today. On November 12, 2025, the newest Porsche Charging Lounge opened its doors in Himmelkron, and the brand's own fast charging network will grow to a total of ten locations in Europe. This special lounge is located in the Eurorastpark Himmelkron, in the picturesque Kulmbach district in Upper Franconia and is an important stop along the A9 north-south axis, which stretches from Berlin to Munich.
The A9, one of the country's main traffic arteries, is 530 kilometers long, enabling fast charging for travelers between major cities. The new Porsche Charging Lounge offers six fast charging points with up to 400 kW charging power. Customers who decide to charge their electric Porsche there pay 39 cents per kilowatt hour, which is a fair offer these days.
Modern ambience and comfortable amenities
The special thing about this lounge is not only the opportunity to quickly recharge your batteries, but also the amenities offered to customers. The interior of the lounge invites you to linger with comfortable seating, soft drinks, snacks and a coffee and water dispenser. Free WiFi also ensures that you can be productive even while charging.
If you want access to the charging stations and the lounge area, you need a Porsche ID. This is used in a similar way to a key: the barrier is opened automatically through license plate recognition. A vehicle registration number can easily be stored in the My Porsche app. Alternatively, customers can access the charging infrastructure using the Porsche Charging Card or a QR code from the My Porsche app.
Efficient loading times and parking options
From a technological perspective, the Porsche Charging Lounge is state-of-the-art. The Taycan can be charged from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 18 minutes. The new Macan electric mid-size SUV takes 21 minutes to do this, while the Cayenne Electric takes less than 16 minutes for the same charging process. The free downtime for AC charging is also noteworthy: this has been extended to six hours. Blocking fees are only charged between 8:00 a.m. and midnight, so customers can charge from 6:00 p.m. to midnight and then park for free for up to eight hours - a total of up to 14 hours of free charging and parking time is possible.
With the opening of the Porsche Charging Lounge in Himmelkron, the automobile manufacturer is setting an example for the future of electromobility and offering its customers not only a fast charging option, but also a pleasant experience. It's clear here that Porsche knows how to pamper you on the go while remaining efficient at the same time.
