A theft caused a stir in Kulmbach at the weekend. Between midnight and 6 a.m. on Sunday night, unknown perpetrators stole a folding pavilion that was set up on the banks of the Kieswäsch. The white pavilion, usually used at celebrations, measures 6 x 3 meters and was missing by the owner on Sunday morning. The value of the pavilion is estimated to be in the mid-three figures and police are now looking for witnesses who may have noticed suspicious people or vehicles. This incident is not the only theft that has recently shaken the Kulmbach region. At an art exhibition in the Kulmbach town hall, art dealers suffered a sad loss: a gray plastic box containing valuable antiques, estimated at around 200,000 euros, was stolen. The theft happened on February 23, 2025 at around 8:30 p.m. when a 67-year-old exhibitor left the box unattended. An attentive witness noticed three men at a bus stop in front of the town hall between 6 and 7 p.m. and later saw them walking to the parking lot with the box. The police were informed and the Bayreuth criminal police took over the investigation.
