Monika Hanses wants to digitally network Landsberg as mayor
There is exciting news on the political stage in Landsberg: Monika Hanses has stood as the party's candidate for the upcoming mayoral elections. This decision brings a breath of fresh air to the local election campaign that will take place next year. The PARTEI has nominated a total of seven candidates whose names could shape political events in Landsberg in the coming months. That reports Mercury.
But before the candidacy becomes official, the party has to collect a decent number of signatures. For applications for the position of mayor, 190 supporting signatures are required, which must be submitted at the citizens' office. Collecting signatures on the streets is not allowed in local elections, increasing the challenge for the PARTY. The collection of signatures for the city council candidates and the candidate for mayor is scheduled to begin in December.
Monika Hanses' goals
Monika Hanses, who is well known in public but also in the political landscape, has some ambitious plans in store. Among other things, she would like to see a cable car in Landsberg - a creative idea that will certainly get people talking. She also wants to digitally modernize the city, with the expansion of WiFi in the old town likely to be a central point of her program.
The PARTEI sees itself as a voice against right-wing extremism and has taken an active role in the CSD. It sees itself as a “party for work, the rule of law, animal protection, elite support and grassroots democratic initiative”. With this positioning, she particularly wants to appeal to younger voters who are sensitive to innovative solutions.
Political framework conditions
The upcoming local elections in Germany, as in bpb are described in detail, are not only important for the appointment of city and municipal councils, but also for the direct election of (major) mayors. In many federal states, voters in local elections are particularly free when it comes to smaller parties. While voter turnout is often lower than in state or federal elections, the local context remains crucial for voting behavior.
The special features of local constitutions, such as the South German Mayors Constitution, which provides for directly elected mayors, ensure that accountability is higher and therefore there is more transparency in local politics. In this environment, the PARTY could represent a better voice for citizens.
With Christoph Raab at the top of the district council list and a strong team of candidates around Michael Matschiner, Thomas Buck, Roland Kronbauer and Torsten Grün, the PARTEI clearly shows that it is willing to take responsibility and actively shape political fortunes in Landsberg.
If the hurdles required for signatures of support can be overcome, next year's election could be monotonous. The fact is: the political stage in Landsberg remains exciting, and citizens can look forward to a variety of perspectives and election programs.
