Ten years of GesundheitregionPlus: A success for Landsberg am Lech!
On November 4th, 2025, the GesundheitregionPlus Landsberg am Lech district celebrated a very special anniversary. For ten years, intensive work has been carried out here to strengthen health care, health promotion and care. A celebratory health forum was the perfect setting to look back on the successes of the last few years and set new goals. As landkreis-landsberg.de reports, several projects have significantly improved the healthcare offering in the district.
Among the numerous initiatives, the nursing training association stands out, which makes it easier for young people to enter the nursing profession. Another highlight are the open exercise meetings for seniors, which not only promote health but also strengthen social contacts. The midwife hotline and the intercultural health initiative MiMi have also established themselves as valuable resources. The latest technology comes into play with the smartphone-based first aid system “Mobile Rescuer”, which ensures faster help in emergencies. The concept of QuartierPflege also shows how important it is that care services are close to people.
Focus on prevention and health literacy
But it's not just looking back and successes that are in the foreground. HealthregionPlus also has clear plans for the future. The focus is on promoting equal health opportunities, strengthening citizens' health literacy and supporting healthy decisions. Health literacy is a key resource for making informed decisions about your own health. As pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov explains, the meaning of this term has changed over the decades. Health literacy covers many levels and has a decisive influence on how well people can deal with health information.
The article highlights that the current polycrisis, which includes challenges such as digital transformation and climate change, highlights the need for measures to strengthen health literacy. It is reported that in Germany 59% of the population faces low levels of health literacy. These numbers are alarming and make it clear that a lot of funding is needed to reach vulnerable groups.
Together for a healthy future
The measures and initiatives of the GesundheitregionPlus are therefore not just an after-work snack, but a decisive step towards better health care. Future engagement should aim to actively address demographic change and the shortage of skilled workers and to take into account the health consequences of climate change. Continuing and improving regular events, such as Mental Health Week, are just as important.
In times when the healthcare system is faced with complex challenges, the role of health literacy becomes even clearer. This is not just viewed as an individual ability, but must be viewed as a social responsibility. Ultimately, the goal is for each individual to be able to find, understand and use information to make health decisions. The path to strengthening health literacy, according to the RKI, requires a common understanding and cooperation of all those involved.
The Health RegionPlus Health Forum thus reinforces the need to take action. The challenges are great, but together we can sustainably improve health in the region. The GesundheitregionPlus would like to thank all participants, institutions and citizens for their commitment and is optimistic about the future.
