The ice hockey season is in full swing and the first games have already provided exciting moments. On September 20, 2025, both EV Landshut in the DEL2 and Deggendorfer SC in the Oberliga Süd started the new season successfully. Fans and players should be cheering because the first results promise a lot of excitement and drama.
A look at the games shows that the Straubing Tigers celebrated a convincing 5-2 win against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, supported by over 4,200 spectators. Stefan Loibl, Justin Scott and Tim Brunnhuber contributed significantly to the success.
EV Landshut was in top form and defeated the Ravensburg Towerstars 8:1. Particularly noteworthy were the goals from David Elsner and Tobias Lindberg, who made the game a real showpiece.
Deggendorf is coming back strong
Deggendorfer SC was able to make a strong statement right at the start of the season and won its first game 7-1 against the Höchstadt Alligators in front of 1,823 spectators. Harrison Roy and Petr Stloukal were the stars of the game and contributed to the high number of goals with several goals. The club seems ready to take a promising path in the top league system.
Unfortunately, the Passau Black Hawks were unable to build on the success of the other teams. They lost their opening game 1:4 against the Heilbronner Falken and were only able to score one goal during the game through Zack Nazzarett. Ice hockey in Germany
The Eishockey Oberliga is the third highest league in German ice hockey and has had an eventful history since its founding. It remained the top division in the country until the 1957/1958 season. Today the Oberliga is divided into the North and South groups, which fight for the title and promotion to DEL 2 in play-offs after the main rounds. This exciting mode has caused many surprises in recent years.
The last few years have been challenging, partly due to bankruptcies and withdrawals, but the league is strong and on the rise. There are currently 13 teams taking part in the competition in the Oberliga Süd, which will do everything in their power to demonstrate their skills and collect the coveted points.
The season has got off to a promising start and it remains to be seen which teams can prevail in the coming weeks.
