Three teenagers steal cash at the bus station in Lohr am Main!
On July 2, 2025, at around 1:40 p.m., a brazen theft occurred at the central bus station in Lohr am Main. A young woman fell victim to three young people between the ages of 14 and 16 who stole 165 euros in cash, an EC card and a bus ticket in an unobserved moment. These items were lying unprotected on a waiting bench next to the victim when the crime occurred. The police immediately took action and were able to temporarily arrest the suspects through several patrols. They were then handed over to the care of their parents. Part of the stolen goods, the 165 euros in cash, was found in a nearby trash can.
The Lohr am Main police station has launched a call for witnesses and is asking anyone who has information about this incident to call 09352/874130 or email pp-ufr.lohr.pi@polizei.bayern.de. The incident is part of a worrying trend, as Statista reports an increase in theft crimes in Germany, which has been observed for the first time since 2015.
More incidents in the region
The theft at the bus station was not the only incident in the region. In Partenstein, between July 1st and 2nd, a car was broken into and 25 euros in cash was stolen from a wallet. The vehicle involved, a white VW ID5, was parked on Forstgartenweg. The police are also asking for information from witnesses who can call the same phone number as before.
On the same day, an 8-year-old student in Lohr was reported missing after she did not show up for lunchtime care after school. However, the police were able to find the girl safely in the city area and bring her safely back to her mother.
Worrying trends
The current situation raises questions, as around 1.78 million thefts were recorded by the police in Germany in 2022. The most common thefts took place in the form of shoplifting (344,669 cases) and bicycle thefts (265,562 cases). Particularly alarming are thefts from or in motor vehicles, which accounted for 235,732 cases. Main-Post shows that the theft of personal property makes waves, especially when it happens as blatantly as at the bus station in Lohr.
The population's sense of security should not be undermined by the ever-increasing crime figures. However, the apparent increase in thefts – be it in public or private spaces – makes it clear that being vigilant is more important than ever.
In conclusion, despite the incidents in Lohr and the surrounding area, the local police authorities are actively combating crime and making every effort to ensure the safety of citizens. The discussion about prevention measures and safety in public spaces will continue to be important.
