Loud theft warning: wallet thief on the move in Memmingen!
In Memmingen, crime has experienced a simple but worrying increase in recent days. On August 10, 2025, a 19-year-old woman was the victim of an unscrupulous theft on St. Josef's Church Square. At around 1:25 p.m., an unknown perpetrator approached on a bicycle, opened the passenger door of the parked car and snatched her wallet from the woman. He then disappeared towards the city center without being stopped by passers-by. The police immediately carried out a search, but were unsuccessful. The thief is described as around 25 years old, 1.74 meters tall and slim. He had short dark hair and was wearing a black T-shirt with white lettering and blue jeans. Tips are received on the telephone number 08331/100-0, as merkur.de reports.
Another incident that shows that thefts in the city are not isolated occurred recently in a drugstore in the pedestrian zone. On Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., employees observed a 20-year-old perpetrator taking several perfume bottles worth around 1,000 euros out of the packaging. When an employee spoke to him, the thief immediately fled across Schrannenplatz. Here too, the police are still looking for witnesses who observed the incident. Anyone who has seen something can also contact the Memmingen police at the number mentioned, as allgaeuer-zeitung.de reports.
