District administrator reassures: No refugee crisis expected in Warngau!

In the current discussion about the refugee situation in the Miesbach district, District Administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU) is optimistic. He emphasizes that the situation is stable and should in no way be viewed as a “refugee crisis”. We are currently only experiencing a *decrease in allocations*, the next arrival vehicle is expected on July 21st, as Merkur reports.

A significant end date in view is the planned dismantling of the asylum accommodation on the Vivo site in Warngau by the end of 2026. However, the district is well positioned with regard to the increase in Ukrainian refugees. Thanks to a quota equalization between North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria, an *increasing allocation* of Ukrainians is expected.

The challenges of accommodation

The district's compliance rate is at a high level of around 99 percent. Nevertheless, *maintaining the accommodation in the Moarhölzl near Holzkirchen* is a big challenge. Cultural and religious differences can lead to tensions here. For this reason, a security service is on site 24 hours a day and the police work closely with the district office to promote preventive measures.

Integration officer Iryna Titov emphasizes the *importance of educational work* in order to avoid possible misunderstandings between cultures. Another aspect that is important to Titov: warning against fraudsters who offer fake job placements in exchange for high payments of up to 350 euros.

Asylum procedures and support

The *contact point for asylum seekers* is clearly regulated. When they arrive, they will be processed for identification at a reception center and will receive proof of arrival that is valid for the duration of the asylum procedure, as integration officer informs. This time in the reception center is usually a maximum of 18 months - for families with underage children it is only six months.

It is important that asylum seekers are not allowed to freely choose their place of residence during the process, as they are distributed to different federal states depending on the so-called “Königstein key”. These regulations ensure that every asylum seeker has access to necessary state services, such as accommodation and food. These basic services are regulated in accordance with the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act and ensure that refugees are well looked after during the procedure.

In the first few months, healthcare includes acute illnesses, pain conditions and dental treatments. In the medium term, after 36 months, asylum seekers will receive the same health insurance card as those with statutory health insurance, which will improve overall medical care, explains the Federal Agency for Civic Education.

Although the situation appears calm, the challenges remain. It is up to everyone involved to continue to show *a good hand* in the *integration of refugees* and to promote opportunities for harmonious coexistence.
