Svoboda storms for Füssen: Czech import brings a breath of fresh air!
News from Füssen: The ice hockey club has hit the jackpot! Jan Svoboda, a 26-year-old Czech striker, is moving from TEV Miesbach to EV Füssen, filling the coveted third import position. This makes him the second newly signed contingent player from the Czech Republic in the coming season. “We are very happy about this addition,” said board member Jörg Noack, who praised Svoboda’s speed, his good shooting ability and, above all, his strong team spirit.
The fast winger will be playing in the top league for the first time, which represents an exciting challenge for him. Last season, Svoboda was active in the Bayernliga from January and scored sixteen points in 16 games, including six goals and nine assists. A real talent, you could say! Particularly impressive: Despite a broken rib, he showed real commitment in the playoffs.
Experiences and successes
Svoboda can look back on an impressive career. He previously played in the Czech second division for several clubs such as HC Pirati Chomutov, Kadan and Prerov. He was already a celebrated player in the U18 team and became the top scorer. At just 16 years old, he played for the Czech Republic national team up to the U19 level. His versatility is also reflected in his involvement in the KHL, where he played for the Kunlun Red Stars in the MHL and even took his first steps in the top Czech league, the Extraliga, while playing for Chomutov.
He is also a real figurehead for EV Füssen in the statistics: in 261 games in the second division he was involved in exactly 100 goals and scored 49 points in 64 games in the third division. If that's not a pretty good deal!
A player with strong character
His path has now taken him to the Lech, where he is looking forward to new challenges. “Svoboda not only brings sporting ability, but also a great character that will be an advantage for our team,” said Noack. The decision to sign Svoboda is a further strategic step for EV Füssen to remain competitive in the coming season.
For the club and the fans in Füssen, Svoboda's move is a ray of hope. In a league where talent and experience are crucial, he could be the player who gives the team a decisive boost. The EV Füssen relies on well-maintained runners and high hit rates!
We can't wait to see how this new addition performs in the coming season. Cheers to the ice hockey season!
