Ten-year-old girl missing in Hausham – police are asking for information!

A worrying case is currently making headlines in Germany: ten-year-old Miracle Haruna has been missing since Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2025. The Miesbach police station informs that the girl set off alone to a playground on Schlierachstrasse in Hausham around 12:15 p.m., but did not return home from there. Miracle is about 1.40 meters tall, has short black hair and was wearing blue shorts, a pink top and light-colored flip-flops at the time of her disappearance. There is a possibility that she will specifically approach strange children during this time in order to spend the night with them. Information about their whereabouts should be sent to the Miesbach police station on 08025/2990.

But Miracle isn't the only child currently missing. According to the latest information, around 170 children under the age of 14 have been reported missing in Bavaria, although the majority of these cases do not suggest violent crimes. A spokeswoman for the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office explains that many cases can be traced back to runaways, who repeatedly leave home and return later. In this context, it is important that the authorities act quickly to prevent possible threats to the lives or physical integrity of the children.

Statistics and background information on missing children

The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (BLKA) recently published figures showing that over 1,000 children were reported missing in 2024 as a whole. In particular, custody disputes and family conflicts can contribute to the high number of missing persons, as in many cases parents call the police even if the child's whereabouts are known in these situations. The missing children are also unaccompanied minor refugees who have often disappeared for several years.

The good news: Most missing children turn up again within a very short time. According to reports from br.de, it was mentioned that around 76% of cases are resolved within three days. Only in very few exceptions does a child remain missing for longer than 56 days. However, individual cases still exist in which children remain missing for months and are recorded in statistics until their whereabouts are clarified.

What can parents do?

The BLKA urgently appeals to parents to contact the police immediately if they are concerned and do not know the whereabouts of their child. Even seemingly unimportant details can be crucial in speeding up the search. The Bavarian police have a central missing persons department that coordinates all searches and also passes them on to other federal states and the Federal Criminal Police Office.

In the case of Little Miracle, it remains to be seen whether there will be any clues as to her whereabouts. In any case, the police are highly motivated to find out about the girl's well-being as quickly as possible and appeal to all citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicions immediately.
