Urgent renovation of the Miltenberg vocational school: A new beginning?
A look into the future of the Miltenberg vocational school: During a recent visit, district administrator candidate Michael Schüßler (FW) and Thomas Zöller held important discussions about the impending general renovation of the facility. This is urgent because around 80% of the building parts have to be demolished and rebuilt, with only the supporting structure remaining. In addition, district architect Andreas Wosnik described the worrying structural condition and the need to put the “shell” of the school in order, as meine-news.de reported.
The current renovation measures are all the more important because the school has only been poorly maintained in recent years. This leads to a noticeable lack of space, especially in the vocational integration classes and the vocational preparation years, where teachers had to move from the offices to the teachers' room. Wosnik emphasizes the urgency of moving forward with the renovation quickly in order to open up unused areas and create space.
Variants for new construction and renovation
In the last few months, the district council has intensively discussed various construction variants. On May 6th, Wosnik presented the options for general renovation that had been examined. Three variants were considered to meet the school's requirements:
Economic efficiency and educational aspects will play a central role in the decision-making process. The campus solution was considered the cheapest option in terms of fire protection requirements and was rated positively, as landkreis-miltenberg.de mentioned.
But the challenges should not be underestimated: costs could increase due to delays in planning, and a new building elsewhere would entail additional financial burdens. At the end of the visit, Zöller and Schüßler emphasized the urgency of the measures and hoped for a clear prioritization of the renovation.
The situation at the Miltenberg vocational school requires a good hand and a clear plan - because this is about the future of education in the region!
