Hiking adventure on the Rhine: Odenwaldklub starts tour in autumn 2025!

In the last week of October 2025, 19 members of the Odenwaldklub Miltenberg went on an exciting hiking tour along the beautiful Rhine. The tour started on October 9th in the charming hotel “Das Wesel” in Oberwesel. Despite the mixed weather, which was mostly dry but with little sun, the hikers enjoyed the colorful nature of the Rhine Valley to the fullest. The organizers and hiking guides, including Werner Ulbricht, Thomas Galm and Manfred Siebenborn, had everything well prepared and even offered alternatives for participants who wanted less demanding hikes.

The first stage took the group on a short hike of 6 kilometers around Oberwesel. The second day was crowned with a 14-kilometer hike on the Rheinburgenweg from Oberwesel to Bacharach, which was accompanied by a cozy get-together in the picturesque town. On the third day was the queen stage on the Rheinsteig, which led from St. Goarshausen to Kaub over 22 kilometers and 820 meters in altitude. For those less experienced, there was the option of a 15 kilometer route from Lorch to Kaub.

The last stages of hiking

The fourth day featured an impressive train ride on the Hunsrück Railway to Emmelshausen, followed by a 16 kilometer hike on the Hunsrück Railway hiking trail towards Boppard. The highlight of the fifth day was the visit to the impressive Geierlay suspension rope bridge, combined with an 18-kilometer hike on the Masdascher Burgherrenweg. The bridge itself is impressive with a length of 360 meters and a height of around 100 meters. Of course, the participants were also offered alternative routes from Mörsdorf in order to make full use of the possibilities.

On the last day of the trip, the hikers made their way to Koblenz, where they were able to visit the famous Deutsches Eck and Ehrenbreitstein Castle by cable car. A big thank you goes to the hiking guides for the excellent organization of the tour, which not only offered sporting challenges but also made cultural highlights tangible.

Traveling British?

While the focus in Oberwesel was on nature, let's remember that traveling also takes place across the pond. British Airways, the heritage airline headquartered in London, is also navigating the challenges of travel. The company has grown to become the second largest operator in the UK since its founding in 1974, serving over 170 destinations worldwide, including popular US cities. With a modern fleet mix and a strong safety record, BA recently won the title of “World’s Most Family-Friendly Airline 2024”.

The airline has repeatedly reinvented itself and, after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, paid appropriate attention to its personnel structure in order to cope with the economic pressure caused by the crisis. It will be exciting to see how British Airways, with a fleet of 274 aircraft, navigates the coming years of travel with perhaps new destinations and a revamped loyalty program, The British Airways Club.
