Tragicomic friendship: premiere of India” at the Kulturschupp’n
An exciting production celebrated its premiere on October 24, 2025 in the Mühldorfer Kulturschupp'n. Armin Stockerer and Mike Sobotka bring the cult play “India” by Josef Hader and Alfred Dorfer to the stage. This tragicomedy begins with rough tavern dialogues and develops into a profound story about friendship and dealing with loss.
The production remains true to the original elements and adapts them into Bavarian dialect. With minimal props – a table, two chairs and a hospital bed in the second part – the ensemble manages to convey the emotions vividly. The focus is on the characters Heinz Bösel, played by Armin Stockerer, and Kurt Fellner, played by Mike Sobotka, who act as hotel and restaurant testers during an inspection trip through the Bavarian service desert.
About rough times and deep thoughts
Kurt Fellner is an intellectual character who often ponders about India and eating habits. After breaking up with his girlfriend, he falls into a downward spiral that includes alcohol and obscene comments. But while drinking, the two men get closer and embark on an emotional journey. The second part of the play is characterized by Fellner's diagnosis of testicular cancer, which leads to a stay in the hospital. Here Bösel shows his human side by caring for Fellner, who finds solace in the idea of reincarnation.
The performance is not only shaped by the critical themes of tragedy, but also brings to light a surprising friendship between the main characters. The audience can look forward to further performances on November 7th and 8th, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kulturschupp'n. The tickets are available at the Mühldorf cultural office and online, as InnSalzach24 informs.
