Basketball Supercup in Munich: Germany prepared for the European Championships!
Exciting days lie ahead in the Bavarian capital Munich. The Supercup, in which the German national basketball team, Serbia, Turkey and the Czech Republic take part, will take place next weekend. This is the first time that this competition will be held in Munich and it offers an excellent opportunity for basketball players to prepare ideally for the upcoming European Championships, which starts in just eleven days. The DBB will do everything in its power to build on the momentum of recent successes.
Germany, who sensationally won the World Cup two years ago, will be hoping to maintain the form of recent weeks. Captain Dennis Schröder, who scored 28 points in the World Cup final against Serbia, is enthusiastic about the development of his teammates. He particularly highlights the performance of Franz Wagner, who contributed 19 points in Manila and had a decisive influence on the field. These successes are all the more remarkable as they are the first international title since the 1993 European Championships.
Preparation for the Supercup
15 players are currently taking part in the German team's preparations, including Leon scratch from Bayreuth, who is fighting for a place in the European Championship squad. New coach Alex Mumbru has taken over the responsibilities from Gordon Herbert and plans to make the team's game faster and more aggressive. “We want to play to the strengths of our players and inspire the audience,” says Mumbru optimistically.
The Supercup will be held in the SAP Garden. The games will take place according to the following schedule:
- Freitag, 15. August:
- 18 Uhr: Deutschland vs. Türkei (Halbfinale)
- 20.45 Uhr: Serbien vs. Tschechien (Halbfinale)
- Samstag:
- 18 Uhr: Duell um Platz drei
- 20.45 Uhr: Finale
There is great anticipation for these encounters, as the German team, which has become increasingly stronger in recent years, is approaching the game with full energy and a good team spirit. The victory of the World Cup, where they defeated Serbia 83:77, brought the team not only glory, but also the feeling that together they can achieve a lot. Schröder was also named the World Cup's most valuable player, which underlines the individual class in the team and gives hope for the upcoming games.
The fans are excited to see how the team performs in Munich and whether the successful combination of talents like Wagner and Schröder's experience can be continued. The time until the European Championships will be used to analyze your opponents and refine your own strategy. If Germany performs well in the Supercup, they will have an additional boost for the European Championships.
An exciting weekend is just around the corner and we are excited to see the performances of our basketball heroes. It could be another big step towards a successful basketball future.
