As always, the festive round begins with the traditional voice speech by the Mayor of Ulm, which is held by the balcony of the Schwörhaus at 11 a.m. As part of his speech, the mayor, in accordance with the "Great Schwörrief" from 1397, swears Eid to the city constitution and confirms that they "be a common man". This commitment forms the ceremonial start before the Nabada starts at 4 p.m. and paddling the participants in uniquely decorated boats, rafts and rubber boats towards Friedrichsau.
