Attention choir friends: Voices of Joy inspire in Gerolsbach!
Next week there will be a special musical performance in Gerolsbach that will delight not only the ears but also the hearts of the listeners. On Friday, July 11th at 7 p.m Voices of Joy in the parish church “St. Andreas”. The renowned choir from Ilmmünster has already established itself as a fixture in the Pfaffenhofen district and is known for its rousing performances.
The over 40 talented singers will present gospels and spirituals a cappella. Under the direction of Barbara Scheer, who has conducted the choir since 1997, the audience can look forward to a varied program. All songs are arranged in four and five voices and, with their rhythmic flair, offer a welcome break from everyday life.
An experience to swing along to
The performance promises to be not only a treat for the ears, but also an invitation to active participation. The audience should be encouraged to clap, swing and sing along. The tonal diversity is further underlined by soloists from the choir, who breathe life into the emotions of the pieces.
An interesting detail: Admission to the concert is free, but donations are requested for the choir's work - a portion goes directly to the parish. This makes the evening not only musically but also socially enriching.
A good reason for another concert
The Voices of Joy are not only active at this performance. Another date has already been set: the choir will also give a concert on July 25th, prominently in the Pfaffenhofen Hospital Church. These events are part of the Pfaffenhofen Cultural Summer, which is specifically dedicated to gospel and spiritual music. As reported, the choir's history began in the fall of 1996 and since then it has enjoyed great popularity, both among the active singing community and among the audience.
Singing without instrumental accompaniment has a special appeal in choral music, which both preserves tradition and leaves room for personal expression. It is impressive to see how gospels and spirituals unfold their own magic in the community, without any technical aids.
Perhaps on such evenings you can also feel a little of the special traditions of choral music that you can observe, for example, in Latvia, where a large choir festival takes place every five years. There, too, cultural identity is preserved through singing - like that Dainas, old Latvian songs that connect generations and show resilience.
The anticipation for the Voices of Joy concert is great and we can only hope that numerous music lovers find their way to Gerolsbach so as not to miss the sound experience!
