Creepy shooting spirits conquer Neuburg during Halloween shooting!

The seventh Halloween shooting of the Neuburg Royal Privileged Fire Rifle Society took place on November 8, 2025. This traditional event attracted numerous shooting spirits of every age group. The shooting house was lovingly decorated with spiders, cobwebs and other spooky decorations, creating a spooky atmosphere.

The little shooting spirits competed in scary costumes and tested their shooting skills with light rifles and bows at scary targets. Georg Grohmann, Ludwig Pfister and Tim Grundstein were particularly successful, as they enjoyed pumpkins filled with sweets. For the young minds, Niklas Malchert and Fabian Lang were not deterred by the competition and also achieved great results.

The great minds show their skills

After the younger participants had demonstrated their talents, it was the turn of the “old” spirits. They also demonstrated their skills in archery and light rifle shooting. Here Lukas Felbermeir secured first place, followed by Anja Schmidt, Peter Schmidt and Jana Kaltenberger. They also received candy filled with pumpkins for their achievements, which were very popular with younger and older spirits.

The event ended in an atmospheric setting and once again confirmed the loving nature of this celebration, which is much more than just a shooting - it is a celebration of community and shared fun.

The roots of Halloween

But what is actually behind Halloween? This celebration, celebrated on the eve of All Saints' Day, November 1st, has its origins in ancient Celtic harvest festivals, specifically Samhain, which was also celebrated on November 1st. At that time, the Celtic Druids believed that on this day the souls of the dead could come into contact with the living. Bonfires played a central role in these celebrations, which throughout history have been mixed with Christian traditions but have not lost the original spirit of the festival.

The practice of trick-or-treating even has its roots in the ancient custom of souling, where children asked for soul cakes and prayed for the dead. Although the Bible does not directly mention Halloween, it contains many principles related to its celebration and commemoration, as stated in Philippians 4:8. The question remains whether and to what extent it is appropriate for Christians to celebrate Halloween.

In any case, the Halloween shooting in Neuburg brought the diversity of these traditions to the fore in a playful way and offered an exciting setting for shooting enthusiasts of all ages. The fire department shows that you can not only celebrate, but also win a prize or two without it being too spooky!
