Horse alarm in Middle Franconia: Two accidents and three dead animals!
In Middle Franconia, the escape of horses caused excitement and accidents. On Sunday, eight horses escaped from a farm in Markt Erlbach, Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district, when they were supposed to be brought from the paddock to the stable, reports Swabian. The animals ran wild on the surrounding streets and caused two accidents, in which a total of two people were slightly injured.
The first incident occurred on Sunday in which a driver collided with three of the runaway horses. Although he only suffered from minor injuries, the sad result of the collision was the death of a horse. Another animal later even had to be euthanized. Another accident, this time involving the car of a 54-year-old female driver, resulted in the death of another horse. The driver suffered a shock, but fortunately she was uninjured.
Repeated incidents with horses running loose
These incidents are not the first of their kind. On May 23, 2025, drivers near Sontheim became aware of horses running loose. At that time, the drivers reported that there were seven horses on a road in the direction of Obernzenn. The police were able to intervene quickly and bring six of the animals back to the stable. However, one horse escaped and remained missing despite an intensive search. The cause of the outbreak was an open gate in the stable, the situation of which is now being investigated Northern Bavaria reported.
The repeated running away of the horses shows that there is a certain problem for the animal owners. Such incidents can have serious consequences not only for the animals, but also for drivers. It remains to be hoped that those responsible for the stables will reconsider safety precautions to avoid future accidents. Fortunately, the affected owners were able to catch the remaining escaped animals and hope that such scenarios can be prevented in the future.
