Right-wing extremist demonstration in Nuremberg: 200 counter-demonstrators stand up!

On July 12, 2025, there was a right-wing extremist demonstration in Nuremberg under the provocative motto “Against Pedophilia”. Around 40 people from the right-wing extremist spectrum took part in this event. At the same time, around 200 counter-demonstrators gathered to take a stand against the extreme positions. The police were on site with a large contingent to control the two groups and prevent a direct clash. How T Online reported, the right-wing extremist demonstration began at 3:30 p.m. at Willy-Brandt-Platz and followed a set route around the Wöhrder Wiese.

The police said that although there were no major incidents, several investigations were opened. The investigations are aimed at participants on suspicion of incitement to hatred, the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations and violations of the Assembly Act. An arrest warrant was executed against one of the participants. The organizer of the demo was the group “Aryan People Resistance” (APR), which has repeatedly made a name for itself with its extreme views in the past.

Provocative rhetoric and its consequences

The event was characterized by the chanting of extreme right-wing slogans such as “remigration” and “those who don’t love Germany should leave Germany”. Such statements inevitably call for a response from civil society. And the counter-demonstrators delivered this by loudly protesting against right-wing extremist propaganda. One of the prominent participants in the march was Federico Beck, the AfD district chairman from Würzburg.

In addition to the incidents at the demonstration in Nuremberg, there are reports of a folder who made right-wing extremist comments in an interview with a YouTuber. This led to allegations of sedition being raised. The video of the interview is available to the public prosecutor's office for review, which is likely to further aggravate the situation. This person was part of the “Team Human Rights”, which emerged from the Monday demonstrations by opponents of the Corona measures and also mobilized supporters of various right-wing groups. So refers South German newspaper to the rising tensions, e.g. through sit-ins by left-wing extremist and autonomous groups that regularly oppose these gatherings.

A worrying trend

According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, there is a particularly worrying increase in numbers in the right-wing extremist spectrum. The statistics for 2024 recorded a right-wing extremist potential of over 50,000, an increase of almost 10,000 compared to the previous year. In addition, right-wing extremist crimes have also increased, reaching a worrying figure of 37,835, as the Office for the Protection of the Constitution documented. This development shows that the issue of right-wing extremism in Germany must continue to be taken seriously and that civil society is called upon to take a decisive stand against it.

The events in Nuremberg are a clear example of how important it is to maintain dialogue and actively work for an open society. Whether through counter-demonstrations or public discussions – increasing radicalization can only be successfully counteracted through committed action.
