Serious accident between Bronnen and Erpfting – two injured!
On Monday morning, August 26, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred near Waal in the Ostallgäu district. Two people were injured, some seriously. The accident sounds like something out of a nightmare: A 25-year-old drove his vehicle from a field path onto the local road between Bronnen and Erpfting and overlooked the car of an 80-year-old woman who was crossing the road. A collision was the result. The younger driver ultimately stopped his car on the right side of the road, while the senior woman's vehicle came to a stop in a meadow about 50 meters away.
Fortunately, the 80-year-old was only slightly injured, while the 25-year-old suffered more serious injuries. The total damage from the accident is estimated at around 10,000 euros. Such accidents once again illustrate the importance of attention and caution on the road. Allgäu newspaper reports in detail about what happened and the injured people.
Alcohol influence as a risk factor
In another incident that already occurred on February 2, 2025 near Waal, another frightening accident occurred in which a 22-year-old Skoda driver lost control of his vehicle due to the influence of alcohol. While turning, he drove into a tree without braking. The accident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on the same local road between Erpfting and Bronnen. The consequences were devastating: one passenger had to be taken to Augsburg Hospital with serious facial injuries, while two other vehicle occupants suffered minor injuries.
The breath alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.28 for the driver, whose driver's license was immediately confiscated. The material damage amounted to around 20,000 euros, which meant the vehicle was a total loss. Legal consequences for the young man are also to be expected, as he has to answer for endangering road traffic and negligent bodily harm. The reporting by New Facts highlights the dangers of drinking and driving.
The reality of alcohol-related accidents
Drunk driving carries high risks, that is no longer a secret. Loud Take your foot off the gas Although the number of alcohol-related accidents has fallen since the 1970s, the statistics for 2022 show 214 deaths and more than 19,800 injuries - a worrying increase compared to previous years. Every drop of alcohol can increase reaction times and impair coordination of movements, so the risk of an accident increases massively the higher the blood alcohol level is.
Young road users between the ages of 25 and 34 are particularly at risk, as they often display recklessness and overestimation of themselves. With the advent of celebrations such as New Year's Eve or Father's Day, the risk of alcohol-related traffic accidents continues to grow. The recommendation to appoint a “designated driver” in order to celebrate safely remains more relevant than ever.
At a time when traffic is constantly increasing, it is up to all of us to act responsibly and make the roads safer. It is moments like these that remind us how fragile everyday life is and how important prevention is to avoid such tragic incidents.
