Drama in the derby: Landau plays outnumbered and remains league leader!
Isn't it exciting how the football god sometimes distributes his games? Last Sunday, September 6th, 2025, Pilsting and Landau met in the derby of the district league. 400 spectators gathered in the stadium to watch a thrilling duel, which ended 0-0. Despite the heat from the stands, the game was characterized by an exciting but goalless encounter FUPA reported.
The red card for captain Simon Weinzierl, which he received in the 38th minute, was particularly bitter for FSV Landau. This forced the team to play outnumbered for more than one half. But FSV didn't let this throw them off course and, despite the draw, they remained top of the table with 19 out of 21 possible points. The team showed a strong performance, even if the chances to score weren't as numerous as desired. TSV Pilsting didn't have any significant opportunities during the game, but at least they achieved their first draw after five defeats in a row FSV Landau added.
The reactions after the game
After the game, player-coach Max Putz commented positively on his boys' performance. Despite being outnumbered, they were proud of the morale and ingenuity shown on offense, even if clear scoring opportunities were missed. A few substitutions led to a significant increase in corners and free kicks, indicating a dominant game. It was tragic, however, that the chances could not be converted into goals.
Next week things will get hot again for FSV when they host TSV Gangkofen in their home stadium. Here the team hopes to further build on its strong record and consolidate its place in the sun.
The current standings and developments
In the other league games, DJK-SV Wittibreut gave up its calling card with a 2-1 win against FC Velden-Eberspoint and climbed to second place. SV Hebertsfelden, however, suffered a 0-1 defeat against TSV Vilsbiburg and fell back to third place. DJK-SV Geratskirchen also caused a final surprise when they equalized 2-2 in stoppage time against TSV Gangkofen, but still remain in the bottom of the table.
The list of top scorers in the Isar-Rott district league remains exciting. Julian Unterreithmeier from SG Johannesbrunn/Binabiburg, Stefan Galler from FC Bonbruck-Bodenkirchen and Andreas Surner from TSV Ulbering are currently leading, all with 6 goals each.
