Michael Reich returns to the Passau Black Hawks as a leading player!
The ice hockey scene in Passau can look forward to an exciting return: Michael Reich, the 21-year-old player, has announced his move to the Passau Black Hawks after almost eight years at EV Landshut. The move was announced on Friday before the first test match in Pisek as the last new addition to the upper division club. Managing director Kevin Dierks highlights Reich as an important identification figure who brings a breath of fresh air and DEL2 experience, as well as a deep connection to Passau. Not only the fans are looking forward to this return, but also the team, because Reich brings a lot of experience with his almost 116 DEL2 games.
But that's not all: In addition to his sporting career, Reich will also work full-time in a bank after he has successfully completed his training as a bank clerk. This balancing act between work and ice hockey is important for him because he wants to gain more playing experience and take on a new role in the team, which was not easy for him recently in Landshut. “I look back positively on my time there, even though there were sporting and mental challenges,” said Reich in an interview.
The way back to the roots
What is shocking is that Reich has had little contact with Passau in recent years. At the age of 13 he moved to Landshut and is now leaving the past behind him. The anticipation of the season preparation and the upcoming intensive training sessions is palpable. Coach Petr Bares and managing director Kevin Dierks have assured him that he will get enough ice time, especially when in the majority. “I don’t necessarily see myself as a loudspeaker, but as a leader who wants to impress with consistent performances on the ice,” explains the returnee.
Reich is optimistic about the coming season. “I am confident that we can reach the pre-playoffs,” said the young player full of determination. Switching from the DEL2, the second highest ice hockey league in Germany, back to his homeland is an exciting challenge and he seems ready to give everything for it.
Statistics and achievements
Michael Reich's career shows constant development: in recent years he has played numerous games between various youth teams and the professional sector. His path took him, among other things, to the U17 and U20 teams at EV Landshut before he made the jump to the professionals. For example, in the 2024-2025 season in the main round, he helped to develop a reputation as a solid player with 49 games, one goal and six assists. He didn't score another goal in six games in the playoffs, but the experience he gained is priceless.
Similar to the Passau Black Hawks, Reich will now fight to secure a place in the team and do justice to his experience in the DEL2. The league, which has existed since the 2013/2014 season and has produced a variety of talented players, offers every player the opportunity to develop.
Passau can look forward to an exciting season with a Michael Reich who has enthusiastically found his way back to his roots. We'll be excited to see how his return will impact the Black Hawks' performance.
