Passau competes in city cycling: e-bike records and more!

With a breath of fresh air in terms of sustainability and health, city cycling has already provided a lot of exercise. This exciting event, which started seven weeks after registration in Passau with an impressive field of participants, runs for 21 days and aims to cover numerous routes by bike. In Passau, a total of 65 companies, schools, institutions, clubs and other facilities have registered for the campaign. The team “Bistum Passau and Caritas Passau” is also taking part, ensuring healthy competition.

The author wrote a personal report about his experiences cycling in the city. He is not only a passionate cyclist, but also a commuter who has been cycling to work every day for over 30 years and, according to his own statements, covers around 70 kilometers. Although he opts for an e-bike, he admits that it is a challenge, especially in unpleasant weather.

Cycling through Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is already preparing for its next round of city cycling, as the city is taking part in this large-scale campaign for the twelfth time. The period for the cycling friends extends from September 1st to 21st, 2025. This year, the focus is on cooperation with the partner city Chemnitz, which spices things up even more.

The campaign is supported by Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller from Düsseldorf and Sven Schulze from Chemnitz. The goal is clear: as many cycling kilometers as possible should be collected. Interested stalls can register free of charge at www.stadtradeln.de/duesseldorf. Over 100 teams have already registered online, and every kilometer covered by bike or e-bike counts - even outside of Düsseldorf and Germany.

It will be particularly exciting for the participants, who will have the opportunity to found their own teams or join existing teams. Pre-planned bike tours through Düsseldorf are available, and cyclists can find information about the 10 different themed routes, including the new “Japan in Düsseldorf” themed route, at www.visitduesseldorf.de.

Take action together

The city of Düsseldorf not only offers the traditional bike tour, but also organizes guided tours on special topics such as climate and water. In this way, participants can not only improve their fitness, but also learn a lot about their city. Regardless of whether you ride alone or in a team, the options are diverse and motivation is reinforced by exciting action points.
