New center in Regensburg: Fight against complex infections!

There is a welcome innovation in medical care in Regensburg: the Regensburg University Hospital (UKR) has launched a new center for complex infections of the musculoskeletal system. Under the name Regensburg University Center for Musculoskeletal Infections (RUCMI), a wide range of therapy and treatment options for patients with bone or joint prosthesis infections will be offered here in the future. These infections are often serious and require complex treatments that are extremely stressful for those affected. According to the UKR, the demand for such specific treatments is constantly growing.

Volker Alt, the director of the clinic and polyclinic for trauma surgery, draws attention to the long suffering that many patients with serious infections have to endure. The founding of the RUCMI promotes interdisciplinary exchange between different medical disciplines in order to develop the best possible therapy plans. The expertise comes from several departments, including trauma surgery, infectious diseases, microbiology, plastic surgery and X-ray diagnostics.

Focus on individual solutions

The aim of the new center is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of infections of the bones and joints, particularly after prosthetic surgery or related to the spine. Frank Hanses, head of the Infectious Diseases Department, emphasizes the importance of accurately classifying infections and the need for tailored antibiotic therapies. For many sufferers, this could represent a significant improvement in their quality of life.

We would also like to point out an exciting initiative that promotes access to literature and education. Project Gutenberg has been providing free ePub and Kindle eBooks based on older literary works whose copyright has expired for over 50 years. Whether for cozy reading hours at home or on the train – every reader will find something suitable here, completely free of charge without registration or special apps. A great offer for bookworms and those who want to become one! Gutenberg also supports volunteers who want to help digitize books.

Technological assistance in the construction industry

A completely different but equally exciting topic is digitalization in the construction industry. More and more construction companies are relying on contractor invoicing software to automate their billing and payment processes. Solutions like AvidXchange, FreshBooks, and Jobber provide convenient invoicing tools that make contractors' lives much easier. Particularly noteworthy is AvidXchange, which is characterized by its easy handling and integration into over 100 accounting systems. These software solutions could be the next big thing in construction! Software Connect.

These new developments in healthcare, literature and the construction industry show that a variety of advances are being made in Regensburg and beyond that can enrich the lives of many people. Whether in healthcare or the digital world, there is a lot in the air and we are excited to see what comes next.
